Before taking life in a full full kids bedroom, our collection of baby and kids furniture necessarily goes through the manufacturing phase in our factory ! Below is everything you must know about production of Colorflex by A.K. furniture !
The production site is located in China in the city of Ningbo. It counts more than 1000 employees. We share the production site with our partner HAPE, the leader of wooden toys for kids. We respect the same strict standards required to the wooden toys and we use the same water-based paints.

06What is exactly MDF ?
MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard) is manufactured following several operations.To summarise them, the wood is reduced into chips, then shredded by a stream treatment, after which binders are added, the mixture is dried and then pressed into panels and cooled before being cut to the desired size.
MDF is much denser and more stable than chipboard found in lower-end furniture.
The MDF we use is eco-friendly since it comes from 100% FSC wood and meets the highest European standards in terms of low formaldehyde emission. We comply with the European standard E1 which imposes levels lower than or equal to 8 mg of formaldehyde per 100 g of material, which corresponds to maximum emissions of 0.124 mg per cubic meter of air.01
FSC certification label, a non-profit quality standard:
FSC is an independent, non-governemental and non-profit organisation, dedicated to developing responsible management of global forests. We offer our customers FSC products in order to support this initiative.The birch plywood we use, as well as the MDF, is 100% FSC.
Products from FSC-certified forests have been controlled from the very beginning, through the manufacturing process till distribution. The FSC label ensures that the products used come from controlled resources removed in a sustainable way.02
